Collaboration

I submitted my star sign drawings onto Deviant Art and one fellow artist from that site asked if we could do a collaboration piece. I was flattered by this and I thought sure why not? So below is the animation of my drawings.

Digital star signs

 

These are my finished digital drawings of the star sign. I scanned in my traditional drawings and then I redrew them on Photoshop. My favourite one is probably Pisces as I just like how well the colours go together as well as the asymmetry. I decided to create a poster out of them and then printed it out in A1 matt paper to stick up on my wall. I think that I did a really good job, the print looks so well done.

Star Sign Poster!

George Kamitani

George Kamitani is a Japanese game artist who I came across after playing one of my favourite Nintendo Wii games called 'Muramasa: Demon Blade'. I absolutely loved the artwork when I first played that game, it had smooth animation and the Japanese styling of the designs just creates a lovely soothing atmosphere and it was really nice for the eyes. I like anything that looks Japanesey like and I also love video games so no wonder I admire this art style so much.

Star Signs (Traditional)

Over the summer I've been given a brief to make artwork on whatever subject that I wanted. I decided to go with star signs because I thought It would be cool to turn each one into a character. At first I nearly picked random things for my chosen theme but then realized it was a bit too vague. These drawings you see below took me quite a lot of time to complete. About 4-6 hours was used for each star sign. I drew them all in a brown sketchbook because I thought the colours would stand out well with a brown background. The media I used include pencils, coloured pencils, fine liner pen, white gel pen. I wanted each drawing to look like a sort of mythical looking creature as I enjoy making up different sorts of characters designs.

Harris Museum and Art Gallery

I visited the Harris Museum and Art gallery the other day as I had nothing else to do all day and it was a nice experience. I saw all kinds of art work ranging from glass ceramics to detailed sculptures. I took a lot of photos as you can see below. I regret not bringing my sketchbook as this was a great opportunity to have drawn great pieces of art from still life.

I really like these glass vials below. They reminded me of potions and elixirs that relate to witches and sorcery. There were so many of them and each one looked delicately well made and there was a pretty assortment of colours and patterns on them.

I also liked the designs of these ceramics. The style reminds me of Chinese/Japanese painting styles. They seem to give off a peaceful yet relaxing mood as I admire them.

This sculpture caught my eye because of the musical instrument that the girl is playing. My new brief will be about musical instruments so I took a couple of photos.
