This is the experimental dragon print. I used the printed dragon drawing and tried to print it on a paper towel but it didn't work so well so I then added a few touches to it using coloured pencils. It's still not very clear but I think it is do-able. I probably needed to add more water to it.

Transforming Werewolf
This is just a 10 minute series of sketches of me transforming into a werewolf. It was fun to sketch out how I would look like if I were to transform, its pretty interesting.

Peer Review session 2
Yesterday I had another peer review session in groups of 3 again. We showed each other some of our work and said what we liked and how we could improve on it. I was told to do something about the Cerberus and Hydra which was something I was going to do anyway. I was also told to look at an artist who was good at illustrating Trolls but I don't know the artist's name so I'm going to have to research to see if I can find him.

Lino Monster
So after cutting out all the lino from my pieces of lino I had a lot of these strands left and I thought that I might as well use them to make something and a lino monster is what I came up with which I think is pretty cool. I have a secon picture of the proper version but blogger won't let me upload it for some reason so I'll try tomorrow. This version is only the trying out version.
Ok so I managed to upload this version. I think this one is better because of the black background, it gives it more of a dark feel which is what I wanted. I used blu tack for the eyes and then used a black pen for the pupil.

Medusa Mask
I finished making a Gorgon/Medusa mask today. I really like how it turned out. I used acrylic paints, glitter, marker pens and a little silver gel pen. The mask is made out of paper mache, 3 layers of newspaper and 1 layer of computer paper on the top. This was really fun to make, I wouldn't mind making more masks in the future. I decided to make a mask because I've been browsing on Deviant Art and I saw a lot of detailed masks which caught my eye, it made me want to try one myself plus I wanted to remember how to use paper mache again, I think its a good technique and it could be very useful for future projects.
Medusa- There are many stories about medusa. One that I've
heard is that Medusa was one of Athena's disciples. Medusa asked Athena for
permission to visit the south but Athena refused and so Medusa said that Athena
was just jealous of her beauty. Athena was angered by this and so she cursed
Medusa, giving her snakes as hair and turning her so ugly that any person
looking directly into her eyes would turn to stone.

Chimera Finished
This is the final finished pen drawing of the Chimera. My drawing habits kicked in so I didn't get in as much as detail as I wanted but I will always have a chance to do that later if I change my mind. I think I'm going to try and add a bit of colour to it using photoshop because at the moment it looks a bit too flat too me but I still think I did a good job on it.
Chimera- The Chimera in Greek mythology is a Greek monster
that has the body and head of a lion, a snake for a tail and a fire breathing
goat head coming out of its back. Merely seeing the Chimera was a bad omen
because they usually appear before natural disasters such as violent storms and
volcanic eruptions. The Chimera is the offspring of Typhon and Echidna so
therefore it has siblings which include the famous Sphinx and Cerberus.

Chimera WIP
I'm currently drawing a Chimera which is a mythical winged beast that is part, lion, part goat and part serpent. I have already outline the drawing in black biro, I will probably finish the rest by tomorrow. Sir John Tenniel's illustrations inspired me to draw this piece so I will be adding a lot more detail to make it look as good as his such as scales and fur. I used reference for the lion which was from some google images and reference for the cobra from a book I have called Reptile World.

Sir John Tenniel
I was suggested by one of my tutors to have a look at Sir John Tenniel's work who is the original illustrator of the Alice in Wonderland books. As you can see he has drawn a few mythical creatures, a Gryphon and Jabberwock in the stories which links to my project. The way he has illustrated these drawings shows how detailed he can be with traditional media. I find that they are very skillfully drawn and that a lot of patience must be requiredquired to produce such quality of art work. Looking at Sir John Tenniel's illustrations has got me wanting to try out something just as detailed as his works, hopefully I'll get it to be nearly as good as his.

Mermaid
I tried practicing a bit with water colour pencils on this mermaid drawing. I still don't think that I'm good at using them but hopefully I'll get better with more practice. I also used some water colour pencils just to touch it up a little.
Mermaid- Mermaids are
usually thought to be kind and innocent natured with beauty that matched no
other. Their bodies would be half fish at the bottom half but human for the top
half. In the most recent stories, it is said that they sing songs at sea,
hypnotizing men with their voice and beauty to make them come closer until
they're close enough to be pulled down into the water to be drowned. Some say
that even well intentioned mermaids are dangerous because they either have
forgotten or don't even know that humans can't breathe underwater so they
accidently kill them when they pull them down into the water.

Experimental print
There is a print technique that I tried out today with the printed out dragon drawing that I did for the front cover. I tried to print it onto a wet paper towel to see if it could absorb the colour but it didn't really turn out as good as I hoped. I also left the sample in college so I'll have to upload it up on monday. I may try out to do this print again because I feel like I didn't do it right. Experimenting with new techiniques is a part of art after all.

Peer Review
Today we had a peer review session in small groups. We each looked at each members statement of intent and then added ideas of our own to help them with their theme. I was in a group of 3 so I got ideas from 2 class mates. I got someone saying that I should look into the Marvel and DC series such as Hercules, Wonder Woman and Thor because they closely relate to mythology. I also had another person who suggested that I could focus on a specific kind of myth and to create a series of illustrative drawing to show the story behind it. I will take these notes into consideration, I think it will be helpful and make my project a little more interesting if I include to do these things.
Tribal Devil
I tried drawing out a tribal devil sort of design using only a red and black pen using the the template that I made. I think it turned out pretty cool. I am planning on turning this into a lino print later on, I think it will turn out pretty well. I find it fun to draw these types of designs, you never know what you would get by bunching shapes together and form new interesing patterns. I think this would work well as a tatoo design.

First Illustrations
These are just a couple of drawings that I have recently finished. The first is a stone golem, beings that are made entirely out of stone and the second drawing is my own interpretation of the sword in the stone which was pretty fun to design. I'm trying to focus a lot on the lights and darks of a drawing because good contrast makes an image really pop out.

FMP Mythology
My final major has finally came. I get to choose my own pathway and theme. I chose to base this project around Mythology because I feel like I can be very illustrative by drawing different kinds of creatures and beings. The pathway specialism is obviously going to be illustration because It's what I am best at. I am going to learn about all kinds of mythical creature, myths and legends which is very exciting for me.
I have already drew a front cover like I do in every project of a mythical dragon as you can see above. I focused on being quite technical with the coloured pencils to create contrast from light to dark. I am very pleased with it's outscome though I do think the header seems to be done quite poorly compared to the main drawing, I guess I got lazy for that part.
I've submitted this drawing onto the Deviant Art website and this is the first comment I got: Very nice composition and design. My favorite part has to be the horn part. The soft coloring really works to this piece. I would only point out the roughness of the header coloring compared to the dragon drawing. They are not exactly complementing each other. But I know working with coloured pencils can be hard.
Still well done.
Still well done.

Mini Bed room
This mini bedroom is the final piece to my One Word project. I mainly used cardboard for the structure of the objects. I made the bed a little too big but it still fits thankfully. This is not my own room, it's just a made up layout.
6 piece doll
This was the final stuffed doll that I made. It was created using 6 separately made pieces then stitched together at the end. I got this kind of idea from a game called Little Big planet which is why it looks pretty similar to those little sack people from the game. To be honest, I thought it would turn out better than this but it was still nice to try out.

Quilt sample
This is a quilt sample that I made using two differently designed fabrics. I used the sewing machine to attach the pieces together after watching a tutorial on how to make quilts on youtube. I like how nice the patterns work together. I would've made it larger but I didn't have enough fabrics to work with.
Sketchbook pages
These are just a few pages that I've been working on recently.
Breakfast in bed drawing with water colours.
This is a creative design that I tried to draw for a bed. I don't really like it too much because it looks a little too simple and the colouring isn't that great.
This drawing is of a flower bed type of art work. I used stencils that I made by myself and then used coloured pencils to colour it in.
Star Plush
This is my star shaped plushie toy that I made similarly to the other ones. I dont think this looks like it turned out as good as I hoped, the mouth looks a little weird and the points dont all look the same.
