I'm already onto the final 4 weeks of the project, it feels like it's gone so quick! I have decided to think about what kind of final piece I should do since its good to think about it early just in case something goes wrong later on. These are the ideas I have at the moment:
1. A large painting or series of paintings. This was my first idea that I came up with. I thought about painting an Angel on one canvas and a Demon on another canvas with both beings facing towards or away from each other. I'm not so sure I should do this though because for my last final major project I did a painting already and so doing another one is probably not a good idea. I'm also not that confident when it comes to my painting skills so this is my least favourite option at the moment.
2. A large mod roc piece. Since I think that my mod roc unicorn piece is going pretty well, I thought a large piece of a different creature would look amazing. The thing is that there isn't that much chicken wire left to make a huge piece but I guess I could still improvise. I'm also a little worried about how time consuming it would be to make a huge piece because it has took me quite a while to finish the unicorn.
3. A large or a series of mythical hangings. I thought this would be good because my dragon seemed to be the most eye catching piece of work so far in this project so I thought a series or one large detailed hanging would be even more eye catching and since the final piece is going to be shown in the exhibition, eye catchiness is what I need. The thing that I'm worried about is how I should actually hang them up, the dragon is stuck on the wall with blu tack and it keeps falling down so I won't be using that. I've been told by one of my tutors that I should look at lanterns so maybe I'll do a huge lantern piece.

Creepy stories
Lately I've been reading a load of "true" creepy stories from http://www.gods-and-monsters.com/scary-stories.html and now I feel a little paranoid when I'm alone. There are stories about ghosts, demons, vampires, witches and more, some seems unbelievable and over the top but some of them seems that they could actually be real. I feel like maybe I should do something with theses stories I've read, when I read them I sometimes get the shivers so I could try a piece of artwork that could possibly give the same effect.

Vampires
Recently, I've been reading about some interesting facts about vampires from this website:
http://www.gods-and-monsters.com/facts-about-vampires.html
Its definitely got me really interested, I read all the sections about it. Reading about vampires has gotten me wanting to do an art related piece so I'm going to get onto that later but I still don't know what kind of media I should use. Hopefully a good idea will come to me soon.

Unicorn Mod Roc
I've currently been working on making a unicorn sculpture out of mod roc and chicken wire. I've chosen to do this because I wanted to develop my unicorn painting into a 3D object. I also want to try out using the mod roc because I want to see how well I'd use it and if I find out that I use it well, it'll become a possible choice of using mod roc for my final piece but if it doesn't go to well then I'll have to think of other final piece ideas.

ChineseDragon Hanging
This is my Chinese dragon hanging. I got this idea from when I went to have my interview at UCLAN, they had a mini exhibition going on and the hangings caught my eye so that made me feel like making one myself. I created each part of the dragon using Photoshop and then stuck them on cardboard to make them sturdier. It took me a while to attach them all together with the string, I didn't plan on how I was supposed to attach them so I just winged it which was quite stressful to do. In the end I managed to get it how I wanted it to look so I'm happy. The Chinese symbol on the circles means dragon.

Tutor advice
Today I've gotten some bold advice from one of my tutors. She suggested that I should draw more from primary sources than from my imagination so she told me to visit places such as museums and zoos. She also suggested that I should include information on the origin behind the mythological creatures that I have and will be working on so that whoever looks at my sketchbook can also learn about the myths and stories. Another thing she said was that I should probably narrow down my project to just one or a few myths because at the moment, it's too vast but I'm not sure about it because I deliberately tried to make it vast so that I could have something to work on without getting stuck. I will take her advice into consideration, I think it'd be good to draw from primary sources as it will help me understand the better anatomy of certain animal features. It will also be good to include information on myths because it will help me learn about them as well as for people who looks at my sketchbook.

Unicorn
Original
Edit 1
Edit 2
I've been trying to start with some painting with acrylics to further expand my range of media. I decided to paint a unicorn with a wavy mane. My technique was to first paint the background then all the base colours of the image and then darkened and lightened colours of the base colours for the shadows and highlights. The one with the orange mane is the original piece and the other two are just different coloured ones that I created by editing the original on Photoshop. The painting looks really nice when seen from a distance but when I'm closer, I can see a lot of odd bits that just doesn't look right. I will probably create more paintings and hopefully I'll improve with practice.

Collograph Prints
These are my collograph fairy prints. I used purple ink as the main colour. I tried to add black to it as a secondary colour but it didn't work too well as you can see. The collograph wasn't stuck onto the card strong enough so I couldn't put on as much ink as I wanted with the roller. The bottom print has been included with touches of gel pens and water colours to give it a more colourful image.
Lino prints
These are the lino prints that I managed to do. One is of that tribal devil design from before and another is the mythical nine tailed demon fox. I was suprised by how well I could draw a fox from my mind, it was probably because I watch a lot of anime that has foxes in them. I like how my devil came out, the colours work well together but for the fox, I think differently. I now feel like I shouldve used one dark colour and one bright colour instead of two similarly dark colours because it doesn't really pop much to me. If I were to choose the colours again, then I would probably go for purple and red since they are my top 2 favourite colours and they contrast nicely together.

Finished Angelic Demon
I finally finished my character for the Deviant Art contest! This took me soooo long to do because I tried out a new way of shading. I'm very happy with how it turned out, I thought because i was trying something new it wouldn't turn out so good. I didn't draw in a scenery background because I have no I dea how to start that yet, I need to look up tutorials. I've decided that this character is a hybrid between Angel and Demon because it looks too human like for it to be called a Goddess and Devil hybrid. I wanted to giver her a name but I can't think of anything yet.

WIP Manga Drawing
I've told myself that I wouldnt draw much manga styled artwork for this project so I guess 1 or 2 wouldn't hurt. I found a contest on Deviant Art where you have to draw a female magical character for a card game that is soon to be released which is why I couldn't help but to participate in it. I have decided to draw a Devil/Goddess type of character so that it can also be included to my mythology project so I'm trying to hit 2 birds with one stone. This is the finished pencil sketch that I've done, I will finish the rest on photoshop, hopefully it will turn out as good as I imagine it to be.

Mystical Genie
I used mixed media to create this drawing which was pretty fun. I used soft pastels, gel pens, coloured pencils and glitter. This took a while to draw because i was drawing on A1 paper. I was originally going to use sand instead of glitter but if I did that I wouldn't have been able to roll the drawing up to take it with me back to college. I can gladly say that I know how to use soft pastels a bit better now, I used to be really terrible with them.

Collograph
I made a stencil of a fairy/pixie type of creature for my collograph. I've printed the collograph but it's still in college so I'm going have to upload them later. I like how the wings make the image. I like making stencil art, I think it's a really good thing that can be developed by using different media with it such as, pens, spray paints and inks.
