Sun and Moon

These are my latest manga drawings that I have finished colouring using Photoshop. I felt like only drawing the faces because I usually draw nearly the whole body of a characcter so I wanted to try something different.

At first I just wanted to draw this beautiful girl with long flowy hair but then I wanted to include a background and so I thought of the sky and sun which then gave me the idea that this could be a drawing of a sun Goddess. I think this style looks pretty similar to Hiro Mahima's artwork who is the artist of one of my favourite anime series, Fairytail. I'm happy with how the colouring turned out, especially the hair.

So because I already drew a sun Goddess, I thought it would be cool to also draw a moon Goddess. I decided to use a white and black colour for her hair so that white can represent the moon while the black represents the night sky. I also really like how this one turned out as well, I've found on Deviant Art that more people like this drawing than the other one.

Portfolio

So I now have all four invitations for interviews to the universities that I've applied for and they all require me to bring a portfolio of my artwork. I have started on making my portfolio which I have chosen my best works to be included into it. I have to include my life drawings as well which I don't really like because I feel like they don't look good enough to be shown. I've only mounted about half of my portfolio at the moment so I need to hurry up and finish mounting everything that I want before I run out of time. I also still  have to by an A1 sized folder to hold my work in which will cost me about £20 to buy which is kind of sucky.

Heart Cushion/Pillow

Since Valentines day is so close, it got me in the mood to do this heart shaped cushion/pillow. This one was such a pain to make because at first I tried ataching a strip around the edges to make it look thicker but it didn't work and turned out to look like a weird red blob thing. After that I decided to not attach the strip and to just sew it the other way and used the sewing machine. I attached the ribbon to make it more lovely looking. :)

Cushion sample

This is my first sample piece. I wanted to make a simple square cushion with a simple flower design to get me warmed up for the future textile work that I'll be doing. I think this turned out very well. I painted the design of the flower on before stitching which I know now isn't such a good idea because then it would be hard to figure out how to attach them both together accurately with both designs at the same level.

Stuffed Animals!

Sometimes children like to take stuffed toys and animals with them when they go to bed so that gave me the idea to try and make them for this one word project.

This giraffe is the first stuffed animal I made. I wanted to try out something simple first so I did. I think I made the legs too close to each other, the feet are touching each other which is unnatural. I still like how the shape turned out though the spots do look a little dodgy.

This is my second stuffed animal, a cat! I only wanted to make the head because I had no idea how to make the body. This one didn't look right when I turned it inside out so I decided to not do it that way so now the stitches can be seen very easily. I can see I ddin't paint the eyes very well, I find it really hard to paint things in very small detail.

Mythird stuffed animal is an owl. This has no paint used, only fely and ribbon. This one was very easy to make because I learnt how to use the sewing machine which saved me a lot of time.

Even more life drawing

I've done more life drawing last wednesday, that was the final session ever for me. I can finally see slight improvements on my drawings. I found out that if I paid less attention to the head and more attention to the body, the image will turn out better so thats what I did.
