100 Illustrations Project

I've decided to start a project where I am to draw 100 illustrations purely for fun and practice. This project was heavily influenced by 365-DaysOfDoodles whom is an artist that I had discovered from Deviant Art and he is drawing each day throughout the whole year! I, however will not be drawing each day as I lack the determination to do so :p therefore I'll just be drawing at random times, depending on my mood.

Throughout this project, the media that I will be using will stay constant and they are:
Fine Liners
Ball Point Pens
Sketch Book :P Paper: 150gsm

I have come up with a list of 100 words/themes with the help of my good friend, Alice. I hope everyone of you will enjoy my artwork! :)

Grim Reaper Animation

This is an animation I made for my animation brief. This is the first time I've tried something like this so it was pretty difficult and very tedious to do. I was required to create any sort of animation which goes with the sound clip that I was given (the clicky machinery noises). I didn't relly like this sound clip to begin with because it was hard for me to think of any good ideas to go with it. I decided on having this Grim Reaper figure included since bones can sound kind of clicky and I had made the background as a sort of abandoned hospital with flickering lights which goes with the machinery sounds. Overall I think that I did a pretty decent job considering it's my first ever animation. :)

 

 

The software I used to create this animation included Adobe Photoshop and Frames 5. Although I did start out using a software called Pencil but it didn't work out too well for me as some of the functions were not reliable.

Happy Easter

This little guy is my contribution to Easter. The world needs more little baby Easter bunnies so here you are. Happy Easter everybody! :)

Chibi Alice

I drew this for a friend and she really loved it. It was fun to draw, I enjoy making these little Chibi characters. I used Photoshop to digitally make it, I should probably use illustrator, maybe next time I will.

"How To..."

For this assignment, my objective was to create a creative piece of artwork using whatever media that I wanted and show a person how to do something. There was a list of 5 things that I could choose and I went with "How To Replace a Light Bulb" because it seemed like it would have been one of the least popular choices that my classmates would have chosen.

 My Idea was to simply show how to replace a light bulb by making a comic out of it. This idea came to me because I have recently attended a talk by Krystyna Baczynski who is a comic artist/ illustrator. Seeing her artwork and listening to her stories influenced me to create a short page comic.

I feel as I have slightly rushed on making this comic but nevertheless, I still think that I did a pretty decent job.

Magazine Collage

For this brief, I had to pick and buy two magazines, one that I would buy and one that one of my friends or family members would buy and make a series of 5 collages with the images provided within each magazine. I went out and bought a Play Station magazine which is the one that I would read and a Cupcake magazine that my brother would read. Below you can see my attempts of what seems to look like "advertisement" collages. I've not made collages often before but I did find that this project was rather quite fun and enjoyable.

Reportage Brief

I drew these observational drawings for my 'Reportage Brief'. The aim of the brief was to draw 3 drawings a day throughout a course of 11 days. The minimum amount of drawings that were to be produced was 30. All drawings had to be from observation and any media could be used. I have selected these 8 pages from my sketchbook as my best ones and I had included them into my mini zine book which the brief stated that we should make. I didn't stick completely to the brief, I drew things on random days and therefore lost track of what else needed to be drawn, but it was fun because that meant I only drew stuff when I felt like I was in the drawing mood.

I did have fun with this brief as it got me into drawing from observation a bit more but I also found it rather difficult. I found it hard to draw objects that were moving such as people and running water. The only bad thing that I can say is that I feel like I didn't use enough mixed media as most of my drawings consist of only pen and pencil.
