Wood Nymph

I thought that I should draw from real life things rather than from imagination so I asked one of my friends, Alice, to see if I could draw her as a mythical creature. I let her pick what kind of mythical creature she wanted me to draw her as. At first she said a Siren but I didn't really want to do that because they are quite similar to mermaids and I've already drawn a mermaid so then she picked a Wood Nymph. I researched about Nymphs and found that they are beautiful maidens that take care of nature which was good because Alice already looks like a beautiful maiden.
This was my first step. I used a pencil to lightly outline the photo that I used for reference trying to keep it as accurate as possible.

I then changed her clothes and added extra details such as flowers and butterflies to give it that Nymph look. I also darkened the pencil lines to make it more bold.

Finally I coloured it all in with watercolours. I used water colours because they seem like a very elegant source of media and Nymph are very elegant beings. I'm not all that good when using watercolours but I think this time I did pretty well.
